Geri Findlay

Director

Geri has over 17 years’ experience working in the sustainability and certification field undertaking a number of corporate carbon footprints; supply chain reviews; ISO management systems implementation; and energy assessments for clients across a range of industries including public sector, transport, manufacturing, heavy industry and industrial fleet hire.

Geri has implemented a number of multinational greenhouse gas and energy measurement programmes including being responsible for the first Carbon and Energy Management Reduction Scheme (CEMARS) certified carbon footprint for MWH in 2008. In addition to consultancy, Geri has extensive audit and verification experience including working as an Assessment Manager for UKAS, Carbon Product Manager for Germanischer Lloyd GmbH and External Resource Auditor for BSI. Geri has delivered projects across a wide range of industries including public sector, transport, manufacturing, heavy industry and industrial fleet hire with multinational experience in countries including the UK, Germany, Benelux region, Sri Lanka and the Middle East. Geri is a registered ESOS Lead Assessor, ISO Lead Auditor and Project Manager with strong business and product development knowledge.

Sophia Axon is the Sustainable Footprints Digital Marketing apprentice, she recently gained her level 2 Digital Marketer award and completed a 6-month work placement with Sustainable Footprints as part of her course. Her expertise in increasing our profile and developing our brand has made her an inviable member of the Sustainable Footprints team. She is responsible for managing the social media networks, designing publicity materials, including the new Sustainable Footprints brochure, organising events, copyrighting articles and content managing the website. She is looking forward to continuing to raise the company’s profile and developing her skills as a digital marketer.

Claire Gomersall

Claire has almost 20 years’ experience of managing projects of all sizes – from concept through to delivery. Having worked in the private, public and voluntary sectors, Claire’s wealth of knowledge and experience gives her an excellent grounding for working with organisations of all sizes and across all sectors. In previous business support roles, she has assisted organisations in writing strategies; securing funding; developing their products and services; building local business networks to encourage collaboration and support; encouraging businesses to reduce their carbon emissions through the Green Business Pledge; as well as working on regional initiatives to grow and sustain industries across the Greater Manchester region.

Since joining Sustainable Footprints, Claire has conducted many ESOS audits, quantifying and analysing organisation’s energy and carbon consumption as well as identifying cost and energy savings. Claire is an ISO 50001 Lead Auditor and continues to help organisations improve their green credentials and work towards a more sustainable future.

For over 20 years, Nicola has worked in large blue-chip companies all over the world in cities including London, Dublin, Sydney and Dubai. With experience of working in a range of businesses from investment banking to management consultancy, her outstanding knowledge of energy compliance, design and building customer relations makes her a key member of the Sustainable Footprints team.

During the course of his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master’s in Engineering Business Management, Hamza completed key projects pertaining to vehicle C02 emission reduction and the development of an IoT integrated fleet management system. Hamza joined the team in 2019 to continue his passion for contributing to the sustainability sector and has extensive experience with data analytics and management system assessment within legislative compliance.

John is an experienced IT Director and information security expert who is technically and commercially aware with a significant track record of defining, owning and delivering business change programmes which support and underpin business growth.

He is extremely skilled in managing key stakeholder communications and relationships through system and service improvement programmes together with many years of experience in leading and managing business improvement projects.

He is highly effective in providing consultation to the IT function building teams to develop, deliver and support robust infrastructure, technologies and line of business applications utilising the ITIL best practice framework.

Lucy Candlin

Lucy is a non-financial accounting and assurance specialist with >19 years of experience in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions verification and advice. She is the Co-chair of the MRVA subgroup of the UK Emissions Trading Group. Since 2000, Lucy has been conducting verification audits for a range of programmes applicable to both large and small companies in the UK and elsewhere, including ‘climate change levy agreements’ (a form of energy efficiency related carbon tax rebate mechanism); emissions trading schemes; and mandatory emissions reporting. Lucy co-authored a guide for the World Bank Partnership for Market Readiness on the establishment of verification and accreditation systems for Carbon Pricing Instruments (2020) and is currently project managing/co-authoring a Technical Note for the World Bank Partnership for Market Readiness on developing emissions quantification protocols to support carbon pricing.

She has acted as a technical expert/accreditation assessor for the Irish National Accreditation Board and is a member of the UKAS technical advisory committee on management system standards where she has provided technical input for the development of ISO Standards such as ISO 14064, 14065 and 14066. She also participated in the BSI committee developing competence standards for UK Lead Auditors/assessors implementing energy audits under Article 8 of the Energy Efficiency Directive.

Duncan Reed

Duncan is a mechanical engineer with 30 years experience in manufacturing, dairy, food processors, commercial offices, schools and colleges. He has conducted > 170 Carbon Trust surveys and >20 ESOS compliant site surveys. He specialises in manufacturing equipment and industrial processes including boilers and heat processes; compressed air; pumps and fans; motors and drives; refrigeration; extraction; and heat recovery. Duncan is a qualified Mechanical Engineer and registered Carbon Trust Standard Triple Assessor (Energy /Water/Waste).

Peter is a CIMA qualified accountant with dual professional qualifications and with over 30 years of exemplary experience across a broad spectrum of industries. He has experience as a heavyweight business and financial strategist, operating at senior and board level, with outstanding analytical, business development and project management skills. He made the successful transition from the financial arena into the energy management sector and is a qualified ESOS Lead Assessor.

Ian Naismith

Ian is a qualified retrofit coordinator for domestic properties. He was the first one to register in Scotland with ECMK and Trustmark. He is an ESOS Lead Assessor and has completed the first and second phase audits for organisations across Scotland. Ian is also a domestic and non-domestic energy assessor with an interest in renewable and LED lighting.

Kevin Turnbull has over eight years’ experience in project managing energy efficiency surveying projects across all sectors. He has delivered successful projects across UK wide buildings’ portfolios for multiple large UK wide retail companies. Kevin has also recently successfully managed an exceptionally large project of over 100 energy certificates to a very tight deadline for a large manufacturing company that was being sold in a multi-billion-pound sale. Kevin is a qualified Display Energy Certificate Assessor and a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Gary has worked for over forty years’ in commercial construction working with major housed names specialising in low energy design, energy management and carbon assessment. Gary is an experienced Chartered Engineer with high personal standards and an attention to detail that has seen him succeed in both the private and public sector environments. This background of close working with colleagues and clients includes his appointment as the Energy Manager for the Metropolitan Police in London, ESOS Building Auditing, Interim Energy Management contracts, BREEAM In-Use appointments, SECR/Carbon Footprints calculations and ISO50001 Lead Auditing. This wealth of practical experience at all levels as well as academic knowledge can be applied to management systems and energy and environmental assessments of commercial properties.

Astley is a professional electrical engineer and has almost 45 years’ experience within the building services sector and 30 years’ experience with industrial power and process control systems. His specialities include power distribution, lighting, motor drives, HVAC controls, compressed air systems, building services design and maintenance as well as running stakeholders’ engagement campaigns in his previous role as energy manager at GSK. He is passionate about reducing energy consumption and improving sustainability to maintain the earth’s resources for future generations. His belief is that energy reduction should be a priority over renewable energy. That is to fix the hole in the bucket before pouring more energy in to make up for the waste.

Barry Collins

Barry has been working in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility for over 25 years. Holding extensive experience in CR/Sustainability benchmarking, producing CR/Sustainability baseline reports and specialises in writing CSR and Sustainability implementation plans for a range of clients, including FTSE 100 companies. Barry leads on the production of client CSR Reports and has been integral to the public reporting of Speedy Hire Plc, Peel Holdings, Liverpool Airport, British Transport Police, FM Conway and Yodel, to name but a few. AA1000 accredited and a qualified Social Value practitioner, Barry can also accredit reports to the Global Reporting Initiative requirements and advise on structuring reports to meet those requirements.
